Rendezvous66 Benefit Car Show Carthage MO http://rendezvous66.com Car show in Carthage MO Thu, 17 May 2012 16:17:51 +0000 en hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.3.2 Excitement for 2012 http://rendezvous66.com/2012/05/excitement-for-2012/ http://rendezvous66.com/2012/05/excitement-for-2012/#comments Tue, 08 May 2012 15:50:49 +0000 admin http://rendezvous66.com/?p=417 Well it’s been a while since I have written anything new.  We can all agree that the last year has been a real struggle for our community.  Even though we are located in Carthage, MO, the depth of struggle for Joplin, MO has greatly affected us all.  After the tornado struck Joplin, our attention [...]]]> Well it’s been a while since I have written anything new.  We can all agree that the last year has been a real struggle for our community.  Even though we are located in Carthage, MO, the depth of struggle for Joplin, MO has greatly affected us all.  After the tornado struck Joplin, our attention rightly turned to helping all our neighbors, friends and family affected and rightly our focus never really returned to car shows and cruises in 2011.  Though 2011 witnessed great sorrow in it’s aftermath great joy has also emerged.  The response our nation has had and continues to have for Joplin testifies of a great God who is moving people in great ways to help and assist one another.  Joplin stands to testify that God is alive and He is working through His people to show compassion and love and restoration.  The tragedy in Joplin has served to restore my faith in those I rub shoulders with everyday and the kindness of a stranger.

I am also excited that in many ways life is getting back into a rhythm.  It is awesome to see that many of the cruises and shows we have come to know and love are in place again for 2012.  Thank you to all of those who have labored very hard to put these great events on and provide us opportunities to meet the great people of the four-state area.  I look forward to seeing you at a show or cruise very soon.

The detail on this car was amazing.  I took a few minutes to just stop and enjoy this one of a kind masterpiece and was able to strike up a conversation with it’s owner.  He took the next several minutes walking me through all the details of the car and I could tell this was like no other ’57 Bel Air I had ever seen and found that it’s owner had a great story to tell and was a great guy, which is usually the case. I have often thought of that car and hoped that I would have the opportunity to be able to see it again.

Fast forward to about a month ago.  In planning the 2011 Rendezvous66 Benefit Car Show and thinking through some of the artwork we would have this year that Bel Air came to mind.  I only knew of a general area of where it’s owner might live and remembered part of the name of the car club it was a part of.  So I took a chance and Google’d what I knew.  I found the club but sadly didn’t find any pics of this amazing car.  Taking another chance I decided to contact the club’s webmaster and see if he could give me any information on it’s owner or if he could forward any of my information to him.

Amazingly I had a response from the owner within a few hours and was able to make contact with him that evening.  In our conversation I asked him if he would be willing to make another trip north and be the featured car in the artwork for the 2011 Rendezvous66 Benefit Car Show and I am happy to say that he agreed.

I can’t wait to share this car with you on our dash plaque and t-shirt and anywhere else I can put.  I hope you will enjoy the car as much as I have and I know it will make one of the coolest dash plaques we’ve made here at Rendezvous66.

Looking for something to do and help some folks at the same time? Then I have just the thing for you. Sunday July 31 from noon-3:30pm we will be holding the Rendezvous66 Benefit Car Show in Carthage, MO. Carthage is just a few miles from Joplin, MO and under an hour from Springfield MO and worth the drive for a free lunch, free inflatables for kids of all sizes, and a car show to boot.

As with previous years we are excited about helping the Carthage Crisis Center help those who need it. Whether you are bringing a car, or just coming to enjoy a day in Central Park, your support for the Carthage Crisis Center is greatly appreciated.  The folks at the Carthage Crisis Center do an amazing work in helping those who life has beaten up or who have made mistakes to get back on their feet by equipping them with the skills they need to succeed and the support they need to stay encouraged.

Our hope and goal is to create a class structure that is accurate to the cars that are brought to the car show.  So, in looking at the types of cars that have been brought to our shows in the past we have adjusted our classes to fit those who have attended and those we hope will attend.  Of course it goes without saying that as a benefit car show everyone is welcome and every car is welcome but we also take the car show very seriously and desire for it to be the best show in the area.

Our class structure is as follows:

100 Camaro/Firebird (all years)
200 Corvette (all years)
300 Mustang (all years)
400 MOPAR (intended to meet years ’64 & newer)

500 Stock This class represents those cars that are original to how they left the factory whether restored or unrestored. Very minor changes such as window tinting, different tires, non-factory radios would be accepted into this class.
600 Modified This class represents those cars that have been modified from how the manufactuer originally intended.  Cars in this class would have one of the following: a non-factory paint color, different wheels, engine changes, major engine modifications or dress-kits, or interior changes.
700 Custom This class represents those cars that have been changed significantly from their original design.  A car in this class would have several of the following: a non-factory paint color, different wheels, engine changes, major engine modifications or dress-kits, or interior changes.

Our hope is that you will enjoy these changes and that everyone will have an incredible day in the park at the ’11 Rendezvous66 Benefit Car Show.

Come join us! There will be fun for all ages.  Free lunch, inflatables for the kids, and the pool will be open for the little ones.  Come join us for a wonderful day in the Park.  We are excited to see you again or meet you for the first time.
